Let’s talk about AI, shall we?
There has been an EXPLOSION in the entertainment industry. What do I think about it? Well, let me tell you. It won’t exactly be very beneficial in the long run.
People are now relying on AI to create full-blown music, film, television, & fashion projects. It’s an atrocity, if you ask me. It’s one thing to ask your computer to check your grammar, but it’s a whole other ball game when you’ve asked it to create an entire project from scratch.
Where is the creativity?
It begs the question… “Where is my mind?” (Yes, that’s a Pixies reference.)
Now, full disclosure. I’m a bit of a tech nerd. When I say that, I don’t mean I’m an expert by any means. Although, I do spend a lot of time online due to my passions being easily accessible that way.
I grew up being able to Google whatever I needed to know.
Now, I can see why AI is enticing for most people because it takes a lot of weight off your shoulders, I suppose. What must be acknowledged, though, is the fact that it’s replacing us. Slowly but surely, our jobs are going to be nonexistent.
People are now relying on something that was made to be a tool to manufacture works of art.
Is it really art if the artist is a machine?
It’s funny, actually, because I LOVE Star Wars. I’ve dreamed of a world where droids (robots) live among us. Seems pretty cool, right?
Sure.
Although, now we’re unable to regulate these clankers. (Another Star Wars reference.) We are entering a dystopian era. It’s coming VERY fast.
I will not allow myself to let it take control.
As an artist, I am obligated to create works of art that are mine & mine alone.
Where is the dignity? The respect?
It’s a sad world we live in, & now it seems to be getting even sadder because soon we won’t have art as a coping mechanism.
Being a creative individual is a trait I believe everyone has. It’s how you use that creativity that matters.
My final thoughts…
Science fiction is no longer a work of fiction.
We have lost our autonomy.
& finally, welcome to the dystopian era.
