Clayface

Let’s talk about Clayface, shall we?

I walked into that theater with my boyfriend thinking I was about to be let down by DC Studios once again.

Now, I will admit the first act of the film is mid. BUT once Matt Hagen began to transform into the monster we all know and love, the film REALLY began to pick up the pace.

That’s a very complicated way of saying that my partner and I were both impressed by this movie.

I was convinced this was going to be a shit film because the idea of making a movie about a Batman villain without having Batman show up in it doesn’t really work… and yet, it did.

This wasn’t an ordinary villain origin story. It was a psychological thriller that showcases the traumatic events that lead up to Matt Hagen losing his mind & eventually going insane to the point that he is no longer human.

I adored every moment of watching his downfall. I know that’s a terrible thing to say, BUT I feel it’s okay to say in this context.

The film left me wanting more of this character in DC’s very bright future!

We still don’t know when Batman is going to be cast in the DCU, & it looks like it won’t be for a while. But let’s hope that Clayface is a main villain or at least gets a supporting role in the next reboot.

Overall, I was blown away by the film. Again, it starts out real slow but picks up very quickly out of nowhere.

My final rating is a 10/10!

I’m a nerd, so this film had me hooked.

If you haven’t already gone out to see this one, you definitely should because you are going to be pleasantly surprised.
