Let’s talk about Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, shall we?
The Smashing Pumpkins made this smash record all the way back in 1995. Yet here we are today, discussing it because it has made such an everlasting impact on all of us fans of the brilliant band.
I personally love this album not just because of its heavy-hitting instrumentals & lyrics, but also because of the memories that come up when I listen to it.
You see, my mom used to play this project in the car on our way to camping trips, road trips, at home while we were cleaning the house, etc. She raised me well as far as music taste goes.
There’s something so beautiful about the first two tracks. They aren’t your average rock anthems. They are solemn and peaceful, almost like a dream. It’s as if the tracks that come afterward are intentionally crafted like waking up from said dream OR nightmare?
Everything I hear triggers such powerful emotions within me. Also, Billy Corgan’s delivery vocally is just PHENOMENAL. He has such a unique cadence & flow.
I don’t have too much else to say about this album other than how much it stands out to me even now.
If you haven’t already, listen to it. You’re going to have such a fun time with this record. & that’s a promise.
