Let’s talk about Yot Club’s album that was released all the way back in 2022.
I know what you’re probably thinking. Why now?
Well, I’ve been listening to this project all day because it’s gotten me through some rough times. This album feels like a modern take on the Beach Boys. It really can & will make you feel better when you’re down. Also, I’m from California, so this is my kinda vibe.
Although, I low-key fell asleep during the second listen because the instrumentals are just that relaxing.
Anyway, Yot Club’s Off the Grid was released a few years ago, & yet here I am, still cranking up the volume whenever I hear a song from this project.
Each song is brilliantly executed. The lyrics are very glum at times, & yet the instrumentals are high-energy.
Songs like “Can’t Celebrate” talk about how the lead singer can’t celebrate even when he’s happy. Something I can relate to. It’s difficult to really appreciate your own successes when you’ve got imposter syndrome.
My favorite track is “Down Bad.” Again, I can appreciate the subject matter here. Not being able to sleep, jumping into something too deep, & dealing with someone’s fake apologies.
I feel as if whenever I listen to this album, I am instantly propelled into a past romantic relationship. I am both happy & regretful when I think about it.
Although, this album restores my hope by the end of it.
Overall, this project stands out to me to this day because it really stands the test of time.
My final thoughts… fantastic production, & outstanding lyricism.
I’m gonna give this one an 8/10 because I tend to fall asleep during this project sometimes. I’m not saying it’s boring, it’s just so relaxing & I can’t stay awake.
